Pretenders Dressed As Patriots

John Sigler, NRA President, recently wrote an article that I think is important to be aware of. Below is an excerpt from the article:

As a history buff, I am often intrigued by the similarities between war and politics. With Independence Day approaching and Election Day soon to follow, I’m reminded of how deception has been used as an effective weapon in both war and politics since the American Revolution.

Without a doubt, deception and double-dealing are at work during this election season. That’s why you must be prepared to separate the patriots from the pretenders as we work together to preserve and defend our God-given Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

A perfect example of duplicity and deception at work is the so-called American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA), which claims to support your Second Amendment rights—yet attacks your NRA and endorses Barack Obama for president.

If you’re confused, concerned and confounded when a supposedly “pro-gun” group endorses the same Obama who wants to ban all handguns, outlaw all semi-automatic firearms, shut down nearly every gun store in America and abolish “Right-to-Carry” nationwide, you’re not alone.

Telling gun owners to vote for Obama is like telling chickens to vote for Colonel Sanders. Yet in effect, that’s exactly what AHSA is doing, apparently believing that gun owners like you and me are either gullible or stupid, or both. I have a message for them— “We’re not!”

When you learn who actually runs AHSA, their motives and the method behind their madness become amazingly clear. Indeed, AHSA’s board of directors and executive leadership reads like a “Who’s Who of the Gun-Ban Elites.”

Georgia Right To Carry Update

Today, July 1, House Bill 89 takes effect. This NRA supported measure makes numerous improvements to Georgia’s Right-to-Carry laws and represents the most comprehensive pro-gun reform measure to be enacted in nearly 20 years.

This critical Right-to-Carry Reform legislation will strengthen Georgia’s current laws by:

· allowing licensed carry permit holders to possess a firearm in any private motor vehicle, while on any publicly accessible parking lot;

· prohibiting gun dealer entrapment schemes, such as those orchestrated by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg;

· allowing concealed carry permit holders to carry in State Parks, recreational areas, wildlife management areas, and public transportation;

· creating a stricter time limit for various stages of the concealed carry license application process; and

· allowing concealed carry permit holders to carry in restaurants.

Supreme Court Strikes Down DC Gun Ban

U. S. Supreme Court Strikes Down D.C. Gun Ban!
Declares That the Second Amendment Guarantees an Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms

Fairfax, VA – Leaders of the National Rifle Association (NRA) praised the Supreme Court’s historic ruling overturning Washington, D.C.’s ban on handguns and on self-defense in the home, in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller.

“This is a great moment in American history. It vindicates individual Americans all over this country who have always known that this is their freedom worth protecting,” declared NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre. “Our founding fathers wrote and intended the Second Amendment to be an individual right. The Supreme Court has now acknowledged it. The Second Amendment as an individual right now becomes a real permanent part of American Constitutional law.”

Last year, the District of Columbia appealed a Court of Appeals ruling affirming that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms, and that the District’s bans on handguns, carrying firearms within the home and possession of functional firearms for self-defense violate that fundamental right.

“Anti-gun politicians can no longer deny that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right,” said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. “All law-abiding Americans have a fundamental, God given right to defend themselves in their homes. Washington, D.C. must now respect that right.”

Below is the short email we sent to the AJC today:

"It would be a pleasant change to see the anti-gun activists working towards ensuring that people who commit violent crimes are punished. Instead, it seems they would rather work towards eliminating our Constitutional Right to defend ourselves from those criminals. If they have it their way, we will eventually live in a society where criminals can simply have their way with us because we have no means of defending ourselves. Law abiding citizens have a constitutional right to carry/own firearms, period!"

Please do your part and contact the AJC to let them know that you are a supporter of the Second Amendment.

Chicago Police To Get M-4 Carbines

Though he’s well known for his anti-gun policies, and every year sends several anti-gun bills to his state’s legislature, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley recently announced that Chicago police would soon be outfitted with M-4 carbines.

"Daley pointed out that the Illinois State Police, Chicago SWAT units and other police departments around the country already carry high-powered assault weapons," the Chicago Tribune reported. "He said the weapons will better match the Chicago police officers against criminals with sophisticated weapons, such as high-powered assault rifles."

"Many times [Chicago police are] outgunned, to be very frank," Daley said. "When they come to a scene, someone has a semi-fully-automatic weapon, and you have a little pistol, uh, good luck."

The mayor did not explain what a "semi-fully-automatic weapon" might be.

— Brian McCombie

You know... The thought process of anti-gun people always amazes me... Notice the comment about how "many times Chicago Police are outgunned...." Well, I certainly commend Mr Daley for wanting to ensure that the men and women of the Chicago Police Department are able to defend themselves if necessary. I just hope that he doesn't forget that, although the vast majority of us are not employed by the Chicago Police Department, we still have the constitutional right to defend ourselves and to not be "outgunned".... Or, would his phrase, "uh, good luck" be his response to us?

Empty Holster Protest

During the week of April 21-25, 2008, thousands of college students throughout the United States, organized under the banner of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC), will attend classes wearing empty holsters, in protest of state laws and school policies that stack the odds in favor of dangerous criminals and armed killers by disarming law abiding citizens licensed to carry concealed handguns virtually everywhere else.

SCCC hosted its first national collegiate Empty Holster Protest during the week of October 22-26, 2007, on the campuses of approximately 125 U.S. colleges and universities. This second Empty Holster Protest will expand upon the concept of the first protest by placing greater emphasis on educating the uninformed. Protesters will focus on sharing the facts of “concealed carry” with students and faculty who may not be aware that concealed carry laws exist or that those laws differ on college campuses from most other locations.

To read more about the protest, visit the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus Site.

Supreme Court Hears Arguments in D.C. Gun Ban Case

Fairfax, Va.-Today, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in District of Columbia v. Heller, a case the Court has stated is "limited to the following question: Whether Washington, D.C.'s bans [on handguns, on having guns in operable condition in the home and on carrying guns within the home] violate the Second Amendment rights of individuals who are not affiliated with any state-regulated militia, but who wish to keep handguns and other firearms for private use in their homes."

For more details,
visit the NRA's District of Columbia v. Heller page.

Also, I was just on the
Maryland Shall Issue site and saw the following graphic that I think says it all.

Second Amendment News Feed

We have just added the NRA-ILA news feed to the ArmsVault Second Amendment page. This is a great way to keep up with Second Amendment news and gun news.

ArmsVault

Students for the Second Amendment

We are all aware that there are those people who do not value the Second Amendment. Quite often for those people, it isn't enough for them to take advantage of THEIR RIGHT to not carry or own firearms... they often want to take away OUR RIGHT to carry or own firearms. Our right to defend ourselves is apparently not of concern to those people.

There is no doubt that our Second Amendment rights are always under attack. So, when I find a good Second Amendment site I like to pass it along.

Students for the Second Amendment is a non-partisan, campus based, student organization. To me, the appeal to this organization is that it targets the future leaders of our country. During a time when children are being bombarded with anti-gun messages, this is critical. So, be sure to check out their site and give them some support.
