Though he’s well known for his anti-gun policies, and every year sends several anti-gun bills to his state’s legislature, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley recently announced that Chicago police would soon be outfitted with M-4 carbines.
"Daley pointed out that the Illinois State Police, Chicago SWAT units and other police departments around the country already carry high-powered assault weapons," the Chicago Tribune reported. "He said the weapons will better match the Chicago police officers against criminals with sophisticated weapons, such as high-powered assault rifles."
"Many times [Chicago police are] outgunned, to be very frank," Daley said. "When they come to a scene, someone has a semi-fully-automatic weapon, and you have a little pistol, uh, good luck."
The mayor did not explain what a "semi-fully-automatic weapon" might be.

You know... The thought process of anti-gun people always amazes me... Notice the comment about how "many times Chicago Police are outgunned...." Well, I certainly commend Mr Daley for wanting to ensure that the men and women of the Chicago Police Department are able to defend themselves if necessary. I just hope that he doesn't forget that, although the vast majority of us are not employed by the Chicago Police Department, we still have the constitutional right to defend ourselves and to not be "outgunned".... Or, would his phrase, "uh, good luck" be his response to us?
