Cowboy Targets

Armed Citizen San Antonio

Paul Garner was awakened by shattering glass when, police said, an intruder with a prior burglary conviction attempted to break in through a window. Garner grabbed his .45-caliber, semi automatic handgun and, when the burglar lifted the window blinds, he fired three rounds. The intruder died at the scene. The incident was at least the fifth time since April that a San Antonio property owner shot an intruder. (San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio, TX, 10/17/08)

Concealed Carry in National Parks and Wildlife Refuges

The US DOI has announced their final firearms policy update regarding concealed carry in National Parks and Wildlife Refuges! This announcement was made on 12/5/08, so I was a bit slow on this post.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish and Wildlife and Parks Lyle Laverty today announced that the Department of the Interior has finalized updated regulations governing the possession of firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges. The final rule, which updates existing regulations, would allow an individual to carry a concealed weapon in national parks and wildlife refuges if, and only if, the individual is authorized to carry a concealed weapon under state law in the state in which the national park or refuge is located.
