New Gun Sales Record

What were Americans buying on Black Friday?... Guns!

A new single-day record for point-of-sale background checks was estimated on Black Friday, November 23, when 154,873 were conducted by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). That total was nearly 20 percent more than the previous high of 129,166 set on Black Friday last year.

Sons of Guns FFL

Yesterday I discussed a rumor about Red Jacket Firearms (Sons of Guns) losing their FFL.  Well, according to a recent TMZ article, there is some truth to the rumor.

The article reports that the Red Jacket Firearms owners, Will and Stephanie, had to surrender their FFL due to some missing firearms.  However, it sounds as if this was worked around by appointing a licensed person to take over the company.

But, it seems the drama doesn't stop there.  The article also reports that Vince Buckles has since left Red Jacket, and consequently, the Sons of Guns Show.

Did Red Jacket Firearms Lose FFL

So... I don't really want to get caught up in rumors, but this one has me really curious... Did Red Jacket Firearms lose their FFL?

According to a post on Facebook AND AR15.com, Vince posted the following on Stephanie's Facebook Wall:

**

"you messed up. in october of 2011, Will and Stephanie Hayden were forced to surrender their FFL due to missing firearms. we formed the company Red Jacket Firearms LLC in may of 2010 and received our new FFL on Nov first 2010. The LLC and license is a matter of public record. Joe, Charlie and myself were the only controlling members of the LLC with Will and Stephanie federally prohibited fro having a firearms deal or manufacture license of any kind. I was an owner in RJF until september 15 of this year when I chose to leave because I just wanted to move on. a big eff you to the whole business besides flemming...hes cool"
**

My hopes are that this is typical internet BS.  I certainly wish the best for Red Jacket Firearms and their employees.  In the event that any of their employees move on, I wish the best for them as well.

National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act

H.R. 822, the “National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011” is scheduled for a vote on the U.S. House floor this Tuesday, November 15.

NRA Stance on the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011 - H.R. 822:

"As we have been reporting all along, H.R. 822 is a good bill for gun owners.  The bill will enable America’s millions of permit holders to exercise their right to self-defense while traveling outside their home states by requiring states to recognize each others' lawfully-issued carry permits, just as they recognize driver's licenses  and carry permits held by armored car guards.

H.R. 822 does not create a federal licensing or registration system; does not establish a minimum federal standard for the carry permit; does not involve the federal bureaucracy in setting standards for carry permit; and it does not destroy or discourage the adoption of permitless carry systems such as those in Arizona, Alaska, Vermont and Wyoming."

Visit the NRA's H.R. 822 page for more info, including a tool that allows you to easily write your representatives.

Windham Weaponry

I looks like there is a new rifle company on the horizon... Former Bushmaster Firearms owner, Richard Dyke, and other investors have created Windham Weaponry.

Windham Weaponry was able to purchase the old Busmaster Firearms plant, which was previously closed by its new owner. Even better, Windham Weaponry was able to hire a good portion of the former Busmaster Firearms employees, who had been laid off earlier this year.Windham Weaponry will begin rifle production in July. Initial shipments are scheduled for September.

White House For Gun Control

A recent Newsweek Article has come out that discusses how the Whitehouse is preparing to make a push towards gun control. But, don't let that upset you... In the President's defense, he HAS (and always will have) armed guards protecting himself and his family... Perhaps he just thinks that is a luxury we all have. I'm SURE he doesn't think his family deserves to be protected while our families do not.

It is time to ask yourself... who out there cares about your right to defend your family? Well, I know that YOU do! But, you aren't alone. SO DOES THE NRA. And I can assure you that, when the Whitehouse is pushing for gun control, there will be one group who leads the fight to ensure we keep our Second Amendment rights... It will be the NRA.

Just like us, the NRA hasn't found any money-growing trees. If we want to give them the power to protect our rights, we HAVE TO support them. There is no other way around it!

So, if you don't have a Secret Service detail protecting you and your family, you may want to consider JOINING THE NRA!

White House For Gun Control

Join the NRA now for only $25/year. You can pay for that by skipping one night of going out to eat.

Don't wait for your gun rights to be taken away to decide it is time to join the fight.

Gun Industry Success

You don't have to be a gun shop or ammo manufacturer to know what a roller coaster the last 2 years have been for the gun industry. Changing political climate, supplying troops, unemployment.... These factors (and a few others) have caused supply and demand graphs to show unbelievable trends. From gun-related business owners, to sportsmen, to military & L.E, we have all felt the impact.

I recently read an article about a relatively new company that sells ammo. I won't keep you in suspense.... They are Lucky Gunner. You have seen me write about them before. They have been an ArmsVault supporter for a few years.

Anyway... This article discusses how a group of entrepreneurs was able to turn a bad situation into something good. In the process, they have built something that is great for the industry and for all gun owners. Isn't that EXACTLY the kind of thing that has made this country great?!

Anyway, before I get too preachy, or tell you about the whole article, I'll just tell you to read the whole thing by clicking HERE.

We are very proud and thankful to have Lucky Gunner as a supporter. So, when you are in search of a wide selection of ammo, and need it to be shipped immediately, be sure to check them out at LuckyGunner.com.

Straw Purchasing

What is Straw Purchasing?

Buying a gun for someone who is prohibited by law from possessing one or for someone who does not want his or her name associated with the transaction is a "straw purchase."

1.An illegal firearm purchase (straw purchase) is a federal crime.

2.An illegal firearm purchase can bring a felony conviction sentence of ten years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000.

3.Buying a gun for someone who can't can cost you your good name and land you in big trouble.

Never buy a gun for someone who is unwilling or unable to do so.

Whatever you do, Don't Lie for the Other Guy!

Twenty Six Schools Receive Scholastic Shooting Grants

Grants supply badly needed funds for student participation.

The Scholastic Shooting Trust has approved school grants totaling $27,095 to twenty-six school shooting teams. Without these funds, many students would not be able to participate on a school shooting team. Larry Potterfield, President of MidwayUSA Foundation, said, “It’s vitally important to provide these kids the opportunity to participate.” The trust allocated the funds in August and the teams will receive the funds this fall.

The Scholastic Shooting Trust was formed to provide funding for shooting sports education in traditional public and private high schools, colleges and universities, so that participating students can improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills. Alumni, families of team members and community members fund the grants through donations to the Scholastic Shooting Trust so that youths have a better opportunity to compete in the shooting sports. The Trust (http://www.scholasticshootingtrust.org/) is a mission of the MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc. started by Larry and Brenda Potterfield in 2007 to support education in shooting sports, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills.

Thanks to MidwayUSA for the great work they are doing for our children and our Second Amendment Rights!

Sarah Palin Selected as McCain's Running Mate

Sarah Palin, Alaska Governor, has been selected as John McCain's running mate. As I'm sure you will hear in the next few days, Sarah Palin is a strong supporter of the NRA. Given that this was such an unexpected move by John McCain, there isn't alot of info out there on Sarah Palin. However, I'm sure this will change over the next few days. I certainly look forward to learning more about her, and I'm very pleased to now have a strong NRA supporter in the mix.

Supreme Court Strikes Down DC Gun Ban

U. S. Supreme Court Strikes Down D.C. Gun Ban!
Declares That the Second Amendment Guarantees an Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms

Fairfax, VA – Leaders of the National Rifle Association (NRA) praised the Supreme Court’s historic ruling overturning Washington, D.C.’s ban on handguns and on self-defense in the home, in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller.

“This is a great moment in American history. It vindicates individual Americans all over this country who have always known that this is their freedom worth protecting,” declared NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre. “Our founding fathers wrote and intended the Second Amendment to be an individual right. The Supreme Court has now acknowledged it. The Second Amendment as an individual right now becomes a real permanent part of American Constitutional law.”

Last year, the District of Columbia appealed a Court of Appeals ruling affirming that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms, and that the District’s bans on handguns, carrying firearms within the home and possession of functional firearms for self-defense violate that fundamental right.

“Anti-gun politicians can no longer deny that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right,” said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. “All law-abiding Americans have a fundamental, God given right to defend themselves in their homes. Washington, D.C. must now respect that right.”

Georgia Firearms License

While on a recent vacation, my daughter was a bit bored during the long drive so she began digging through my billfold. Fortunately, one of the many things she pulled out to investigate was my Georgia Firearms License. Much to my surprise, it was due to expire in Aug08.

If you are a Georgia Firearm License holder, you may be aware of how much of a hassle getting a firearm license has been in the past. The first step was always to visit the probate court, then you would be sent to the local sheriff's department for fingerprinting. If memory serves, you were then sent back to the probate court. I am pleased to report that this process has been greatly streamlined!

Fingerprinting is now done at the probate court. The entire process took no more than 20 minutes. And MUCH to my surprise, I received my new Firearm License via USPS within 4 days! In the past it has taken several weeks!

So.... the point of this message.... If you are a Georgia resident, you can rest assured that the process of applying for and receiving a Georgia Firearms License has been greatly improved.

That being said, be sure to check your Firearm License periodically to ensure you are aware of the expiration date.
